NATIONAL REGISTER NOMINATIONS

Phil has successfully nominated more than 13,000 properties to the National Register of Historic Places. These buildings range from 18th-century log cabins to a Steak N’ Shake built in 1962 on Route 66 – one of 40 classic examples of roadside architecture he nominated along that great American highway.

As the building stock of our country ages, properties from the recent past such as the suburbs of the 1950s and ’60s become eligible for historic designation. This continues to spark nationwide debate about the cultural value of our built environment. Phil has been an active part of that evolving debate and bring the very latest understanding of National Register criteria to our work. Phil not only provide nominations for individual properties but for entire counties, cities and historic districts.

Recent nominations include the Peoria Warehouse Historic District in Peoria, Illinois, the Russellville Commercial Historic District in Russellville, Arkansas and the Jonesborough Historic District Boundary Increase in Jonesborough. Tennessee.
